He’s currently training for and promoting Spartan Race Australia so we decided to so a short video about it.

As a bonus I took a couple of nice portrait shots while we were there.

I had such a great time and of course I took my camera. Everyone was so nice, I spent quite a lot of time taking photos but also enjoyed chatting with cosplayers and a few other photographers.

Supanova Pop Culture Expo (Supanova) is a fan convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy film and TV, comic books, anime, gaming and collectables. It is held annually in the Australian cities of Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne.

It’s so much fun taking portraits for people in costume just like at Abbey Medieval Festival. I think I took some good photo’s, click on the images to enlarge.

It was the final week before the break, we turned up a bit late so I missed the intro but the plan was to visit the Kurilpa bridge and I think mainly take some Night time landscape photos and do some other things.

The Kurilpa bridge will always have a special place in my photography history mostly thanks to my photo appearing in a Dutch Steel Construction Trade magazine as a two page full colour spread on the second page. It gave me a slightly different perspective to photographing the bridge. I think it had a lot to do with showing off the steel masts, the steel cables and the principles of tensegrity.

The sessions go for 3 weeks and sometimes take 3 weeks off for a break.

These activities are actually facilitated by The Community Place (Community Centre located in Wooloowin) and funded through Brisbane City Council Active Parks Program. Nigel will also be conducting free classes on Saturdays at Mt Cootha and Wynnum Beach in the near future. For more information please call us on 3857 1152.

The weeks topic seemed to be about using your camera in manual mode for long exposures and also about motion blur.
