The annual India Day Fair held at Roma Street Parkland showcases Indian culture, food, music, fashion etc
in a fair (festival) atmosphere and attracts crowds of over 11,500 in 2014 (based on Council numbers from 2014, projections are for a much higher attendance in 2014, estimated over 15,000) for this years India Day Fair.
68 years ago, India attained freedom following an independence movement noted for largely nonviolent
resistance and civil disobedience from British rule. The Indian community living outside India celebrate India’s Independence Day to remember those whose sacrificed their lives for freedom of mankind.
